NEW GREYBOY ALLSTARS LP “GRAB BAG 2007-2023”
New GBA album, Grab Bag: 2007-2023 is now streaming everywhere. Vinyl drops in February.
The title of this eighth LP from GBA could suggest a random assortment of miscellaneous tracks, yet rest assured there is nothing random, nothing miscellaneous about these nine stellar cuts, previously unreleased over the past decade and a half of the quintets illustrious 30-year history. Perhaps stylistic and sonic outcasts resulting in their exclusion from previous albums, here they seamlessly come together to highlight the more experimental side of the quintets ever-evolving sound and vision.

Thrilled to return to the great Pacific Northwest with this lineup! Robert Walter, Stanton Moore, Skerik Skerik, and Andy Coe. October 10 at The Get Down in Portland, OR and October 11 at Nectar Lounge in Seattle, WA (with McTuff). We did a run of shows with this lineup back in 2022 and they were a blast. Excited to come back out!

A new Roger Waters recording is out (official video + track at Spotify/AppleMusic or anywhere you get music). Proud to have played organ on this. We have been opening the show with this stripped down and dark reimagining of the Pink Floyd classic "Comfortably Numb". Visuals are by Sean Evans, mix by Gus Seyffert, vocal solo by the amazing Shanay Johnson. Better Feathers is a series of tracks written and recorded entirely at home in quarantine during 2020-2021. The title comes from the idea of birds molting (shedding their old, worn out feathers for new, better ones). Originally released two tracks at a time (like a series of digital 45s), the complete album is available now & features contributions from Stanton Moore, Craig Brodhead, Chris Stillwell, Jake Najor, John Kimock, and Mike Gordon.

Robert Walter's classic 1996 debut album 'Spirit of '70' was the second in a planned series of solo albums by individual members of The Greyboy Allstars — the band whom Walter co-founded and has played keys for the last 25+ years alongside saxophonist Karl Denson, guitarist Elgin Park, bassist Chris Stilwell and drummer Zak Najor.
Declared by JazzTimes as “can’t miss funk" at the time of its release, the concept for the collection was to emulate the rotating personnel of the Blue Note and Prestige labels where a cast of musicians would take turns as a leader, drawing on the others as sidemen. Each album would also feature a guest from the previous generation that had been influential to The Greyboy Allstars' sound. For ’Spirit Of ’70,’ legendary alto saxophonist Gary Bartz joined the line-up.
